NFCPM President’s Message
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the President of the North Florida Chapter of Certified Public Managers. Since becoming a member of the society, I have been able to participate in valuable activities and make important connections through the CPM alumni association. It was a valuable learning experience serving as the committee chair for the 2023 Fall Symposium with the theme of Toy Box Leadership. I had an opportunity to witness CPM best practices at work. The principles and lessons taught in the CPM program nurture professional development and personal growth.
My knowledge and leadership skills have greatly improved through the CPM experience. A great philosopher said she who knows teaches. Thus, I am ready to take on the challenge of sharing what I know and serving as President of NFCPM. My vision for the society and the North Florida chapter is to promote leadership through example and innovation. The workplace is evolving, and I aim to be a change agent, facilitating networking opportunities and enhancing communication, cooperation, and coordination among public entities. While it may seem challenging, I strongly believe we can achieve it. All we have to do is take the first step. As Mary Kay Ash said, “The first step is the hardest—making a commitment to yourself, for yourself.” Let’s take that step together! Let’s grow together! Let’s create a whole new world together. Won’t you join me in making a difference?
The North Florida CPM Alumni Association, Inc. (NFCPM) is one of several regional alumni associations representing public sector managers.
The Florida CPM program was created in 1979 at Florida State University. The program is administered by the Florida Center for Public Management and enrolls public managers from state, county and municipal governments throughout Florida.
The Chapter is composed of individuals who are currently students who have completed one CPM course level or graduates who have earned a Certificate in Supervisory Management (CSM) or their Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation.
The NFCPM was founded in 1990 and was incorporated in January 2013 in an effort to support CPM alumni and to provide continuing professional growth opportunities for its members. The NFCPM presents monthly luncheons for its members and features speakers who offer a variety of applicable management subjects. Members have an opportunity to network with other professional managers; improve communication, cooperation and coordination among public entities and foster leadership through example and innovation.
